6.1 "The Honeymoon's Overboard"
After falling overboard from their honeymoon yacht, Fran and Maxwell wash
up on the shore of a beautiful, but uninhabited, island. When news of their
disappearance reaches home, C.C. and Sylvia charter a helicopter to find
them. Meanwhile, the newlyweds battle hunger, wild animals, poisonous insects
and even each other in a desperate attempt to consummate their relationship.
6.2 "Fran Gets Shushed"
When Maxwell shushes Fran on their first night together in their bedroom,
she hits the roof, refusing to keep her voice down. They resolve the argument
by agreeing that the key to a successful marriage is compromise, and Fran
vows to be more demure while Maxwell promises to be less uptight. They
try to adopt their new personalities during an important business dinner
at which Maxwell is trying to win the rights to a new book.
6.3 "Once a Secretary, Always a Secretary"
When Brighton asks Fran and Maxwell for permission to visit Atlantic City
for the weekend, each responds differently and Fran grows offended by Maxwell's
dismissive attitude toward her opinion. Then, while being interviewed live
on Entertainment Tonight by Bob Goen (guest starring as himself),
Maxwell accidentally refers to Fran as his nanny instead of his wife, and
Fran is truly hurt. To change Maxwell's attitude, she hires a new nanny
and tries to become a country club wife --only to discover
6.4 "Sara's Parents"
When Fran tries to adopt the Sheffield children, the snobby parents of
Maxwell's late wife, Sara, take legal action to stop her. Fran tries to
win the parents over by taking them out for cocktails and karaoke, but
the snooty couple views the evening as low class. When Sara's parents threaten
to take legal action to block the adoption, Fran worries that their lawyers
will dig up dirt from her past to prove she is an unfit mother. All hope
for the adoption appears to be lost --until the Sheffield
6.5 "Maggie's Boyfrie"
When Maggie's new boyfriend, an underwear model, visits the Sheffield house
for dinner, Fran finds the young man charming while Maxwell disapproves
of him. At first Maxwell is determined to break up Maggie's new relationship,
until Fran convinces him that as mature parents, they should be supportive
of Maggie's life decisions. Fran's advice seems to be sound --until Maggie
announces that she and Michael want to live together.
6.6 "I'm Pregnant"
Maxwell refuses to accept the fact that his 21-year-old daughter, Maggie,
is involved in her first romantic relationship, so Maggie decides to hide
her suspicions that she might be pregnant. Fran and Maggie must seek advice
from a sweet, but somewhat flaky, gynecologist (guest star Nora Dunn).
Much to everyone's surprise, the doctor comes to the conclusion that perhaps
Maggie is not the one who is actually pregnant.

6.7 "Mom's The Word"
Fran is pleased to discover that she 05-be pregnant, but worried that
Maxwell doesn't want another child. When she finally works up the courage
to reveal the truth, Maxwell unwittingly confirms her worst fears, which
he instantly regrets. Nora Dunn returns as Fran's obstetrician, Dr. Reynolds, and Chad
Everett of Medical Center fame, guest stars as the dashing Dr. Osbourne.
Additionally, Margaret Cho appears as a friendly stranger who offers Fran
some advice on motherhood.
6.8 "Making Whoopi"
Worried that she 05-never get pregnant, Fran visits Dr. Reynolds (Nora
Dunn in her recurring role), who advises her that timing is key for conception.
Unfortunately, the perfect time for Fran to conceive occurs simultaneously
with Maxwell's appearance on Hollywood Squares. Meanwhile, Val becomes
a genius for a day when Dr. Fu gives her some special herbs to make her

6.9 "Oh, Say, Can You Ski?"
After several unsuccessful weeks of trying to get pregnant, Fran grows
so worried that she 05-never become a mother that her obstetrician, Dr.
Reynolds urges her to take a vacation. When Fran and the Sheffield family
are invited on a ski trip with the First Family, it seems like the perfect
opportunity to get Fran's mind off pregnancy --until she hears some life-altering
news at the worst possible time.
Meanwhile, Brighton tries unsuccessfully to date Chelsea Clinton. Chris Elliot guest stars a
6.10 "The Hanukkah Story"
Fran is disappointed that Maxwell is going to Boston on business with C.C.
and Grace instead of spending the first night of Hanukkah with the family.
While on the road to Boston, Maxwell has a change of heart after remembering
his lonely childhood holidays without his family. Just as he's calling
Fran to tell her they're coming home, his car crashes in a horrible snow
storm. Fran is frantic when the police can't locate Max, CC and Grace during
the blizzard.
6.11 "The in-law Who Came Forever"
Fran's Aunt Freida buys the building that Sylvia and Morty live in,
then promptly evicts them. Fran wants her parents to move in but Maxwell
is reluctant until he starts getting the type of pampering from Sylvia
he lacked from his own mother. Fran is a little jealous and decides that
patching up the rift between Sylvia and Freida is the only way to get her
parents out of her house.
6.12 "The Fran in the Mirror"
Maxwell's devilishly handsome and underhanded college buddy, Rodney
Pembrook (guest star Maxwell Caulfield), persuades an unsuspecting Fran
to give him $1 million dollars for a shady business deal. When Fran discovers
that Rodney is a con man, she must convince him to return the money before
Maxwell finds out.
Meanwhile, Niles becomes convinced he's a millionaire when he inherits
a royal title.
6.13 "The Yummy Mummy"
After Fran undergoes a sonogram, Dr. Reynolds (Nora Dunn in her recurring
role) delivers some exciting news to the proud parents-to-be.
Meanwhile, Francs feelings are hurt when Brighton goes on a tour of
Ivy League universities and denies her request to accompany him. Fearing
that Brighton thinks she is too stupid to meet his friends, Fran seeks
advice on how to 'sound intelligent' from Lynn Redgrave (guest starring

6.14 "California Here We Come"
Everyone is thrilled with the prospect of moving to California when
Maxwell gets a Hollywood movie deal, except for Fran and Sylvia, who can't
bear the thought of living apart.

6.15 "Ma'ternal Affairs"
When Fran discovers that her mother is contemplating having an affair with
the handsome Dr. Rasso, she severely reprimands her and they have a major
quarrel. Eventually, the two Fine women make up, but Fran vows to help
her father reignite the romance with Sylvia and save the marriage.Steve Lawrence guest stars as Morty Fine, Sylvia's husband, who has
never before been seen. Additionally, actor Joe Bologna, the real-life
husband of cast member Renee Taylor, who plays Sylvia, appears as Sylvia's
6.16 "The Producers"
When Fran discovers that Niles is in love with C.C. but afraid to admit
his feelings, Fran decides to unite the two former enemies. Niles worries
that C.C. will never marry a lowly butler, so he and Fran concoct a crazy
scheme to produce a Broadway play and impress C.C. by transforming Niles
into a wildly successful producer.
6.17 "The Dummy Twins"
While Fran's doctor, Dr. Reynolds, is away, Dr. Reynolds' sister fill in,
(guest star Rita Rudner.) She recommends Fran and Maxwell care for a pair
of life-like dolls to simulate what it will be like to be the parents of
twins. Meanwhile, Maxwell forbids Fran from meddling in C.C. and Niles'
budding romance.
6.18 "Yetta's Lettas"
Fran finds Yetta's old love letters, and discovers that her grandmother
carried on a passionate love affair with a handsome young immigrant aboard
the ship to America. Convinced that the letters would make a successful
Broadway musical, Fran tries find a producer for Yetta's story --and accidentally
starts a bidding war over the letters between Maxwell and his arch rival,
Andrew Lloyd Webber. Meanwhile, the romance between Niles and C.C. heats
up.
6.19 "Maggie's Wedding"
When Maggie and Michael decide to get married, Fran and her mother
are thrilled to start planning the big event. Fran is especially overjoyed
when she learns that Michael is related to Barbra Streisand and James Brolin,
who will be attending the ceremony. Unfortunately, Fran goes into labor
the night of the wedding and is unable to attend, and it's up to Maxwell
to devise a way for Fran to fulfill her dream and meet the singing star.
6.20 "The Baby Shower"
When a psychic predicts that Fran's husband will
have an affair with a leggy blonde in California, Fran, who is suffering
from intense hormonal mood swings, becomes convinced that C.C. and Maxwell's
business trip to L.A. is actually an adulterous tryst. Desperate to save
her marriage, Fran persuades Niles to travel to Beverly Hills with her
and stop the affair.
6.21 "The Finale"
In a special one-hour series finale, the flashy girl from Flushing takes
on a brand new role --motherhood.
When a very pregnant Fran complains that she feels fat and unattractive,
Maxwell tries his best to comfort and reassure her, but to no avail. Always
the romantic, Maxwell throws a beautiful anniversary party for Fran to
